Smells Like Teen Spirit
The AG Smells Like Teen Spirit (SLTS) was newly founded within the IG Sensorik in 2019 as a result of a request for project cooperation by SNÖ (Sensorik Netzwerk Österreich).
In the international overall project, in cooperation with the company Symrise, the olfactory associations in different age groups (children, adolescents, adults and seniors) and cultures are investigated.
The worldwide project is based on a preliminary study that investigated/ examined the same topic in Austria (Smells like teen spirit: Associations between odours and stages of life - A preliminary study, FQP, 59, 2017, p. 150-155).
The members of the AG SLTS, consisting of representatives of companies, universities and research institutes, which are organized in the IG Sensorik, took up this exciting challenge. In three of the four Swiss language regions it has been tested how consumers perceive nine selected odours.
After the successful data collection in winter 19/20, first results of the study are expected in the second half of 2020. An overall publication of the worldwide study as well as a separate publication of the results from the Swiss-specific part are planned.
